The <\/span>Special Award for Artistic Sensitivity<\/b> \u2014 signed by Giorgio Celiberti, internationally renowned artist and historic figure of the Venice Biennale \u2014 will be presented to the work that most deeply touches the sensibility of this extraordinary master.<\/span><\/p>\n

The winning photograph will receive the <\/span>Celiberti Stele<\/b>: an original sculptural work, handcrafted by the artist himself. Celiberti will personally present the award during the URBAN Photo Awards Ceremony at the Trieste Photo Days festival, on Saturday, October 25 at 6:00 PM.<\/span><\/p>\n

More than an award, it will be an encounter: a shared ground of art, connecting generations and different artistic languages.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Meaning of the Celiberti Stele<\/b><\/h3>\n

The <\/span>Celiberti Stele<\/b> is a one-of-a-kind work \u2014 a tangible symbol of the artistic sensitivity that Celiberti has cultivated and embodied throughout an entire lifetime devoted to creative expression.<\/span><\/p>\n

His contribution to URBAN Photo Awards 2026, however, goes beyond the Special Award itself. The artist will create personalized steles for the winners of the competition\u2019s main categories: each individually conceived, no two alike. Honourable mentions, special awards, and finalists of the URBAN Arena will instead receive Celiberti\u2019s seals \u2014 a concrete and memorable mark of their journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

About Giorgio Celiberti<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n \n <\/a>\n \n <\/a>\n \n <\/a>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Born in Udine in 1929, Giorgio Celiberti first gained recognition at the age of nineteen at the Venice Biennale of 1948, becoming the youngest artist ever presented at the prestigious exhibition. His travels throughout Europe and the United States profoundly shaped his artistic research, as did the years he spent in Paris during the 1950s. In 1965, a visit to the concentration camp of Theresienstadt inspired a cycle of works of extraordinary emotional intensity. Painter and sculptor, throughout his career he has explored a wide range of materials and themes, exhibiting worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

The year 2025 brought extraordinary recognition: his <\/span>Seal of Peace<\/span><\/i> entered the permanent collection of the European Parliament in Brussels; he personally presented <\/span>Prayer for Peace<\/span><\/i> to Pope Leo XIV; and he was awarded the Premio Pro Majano, one of the most important honours in his region. In 2026, one of his works enters the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n
