The international photography contest URBAN Photo Awards<\/strong> returns for its sixteenth edition<\/strong> as an international contest that takes place from the beginning of April to the end of May and culminates in the last weekend of October, through its concluding event, Trieste Photo Days<\/strong>, where cultural events and artists from all over the continent converge. This year, Trieste Photo Days will be held from October 24th<\/strong> to 26th<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"URBAN Photo Awards returns in 2025 as an <\/span>international platform for photographers<\/b>; each edition welcomes world-renowned authors as judges and special guests.\u00a0 It is one of the few contests able to cross the boundaries of the web and offer participants<\/span> real visibility<\/b>: URBAN is committed to discovering talent and promoting photographic quality, giving professionals and enthusiasts the opportunity to emerge on an international scene.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Having become an international competition in constant expansion, the contest attracts<\/span> thousands of participants every year<\/b> and collects<\/span> tens of thousands of photographs in competition.<\/b><\/p>\n

The first important names in the <\/span>judging commission for 2025<\/b> have already been confirmed, and they can’t wait to see your work! The President will be <\/span>Matt Black<\/b> (documentary photographer, member of the <\/span>Magnum Photos agency<\/b>), followed by <\/span>Paolo Verzone<\/b> (member of the <\/span>VU Photo Agency<\/b>, known for long-term documentary photography projects) and <\/span>Denis Curti<\/b> (<\/span>artistic director<\/b> of <\/span>Le Stanze della Fotografia<\/span><\/i> in Venice<\/span>). They will be responsible for evaluating the Projects & Portfolios, Single Photos, and projects intended for the Book Award, respectively<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The curtain rises on our international photography competition, ready to <\/span>celebrate the beauty<\/b> and diversity of photography. As usual, there are <\/span>several categories<\/b> in which photographers can enter their work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the categories of the photography competition, there are some sections of particular prestige, such as <\/span>Projects & Portfolios<\/i><\/b>,<\/span> Book Award<\/i><\/b>, and <\/span>Urban Photo Arena<\/i><\/b>; the latter reserved for young photographers <\/span>under 35 years of age<\/b>: it represents an opportunity to showcase their talent, and the event also offers <\/span>networking opportunities<\/b>, making it the perfect occasion to gain visibility.<\/span>\"\"The<\/b> Projects & Portfolios<\/i><\/b> section is for photographers who want to present a series of photos on a single theme, creating a structured photographic project with a coherent visual narrative. Portfolios must demonstrate the photographer’s ability to tell a story through a sequence of images, where each image adds value to the narrative and integrates with the others.<\/p>\n

Of great significance is also the <\/span>URBAN Press Award<\/b>, which will recognize a photographer chosen from the Projects & Portfolio section. The winner will have the opportunity to be published by the best photography press and magazines worldwide, such as<\/span> Cuartoscuro<\/b><\/a> (Mexico),<\/span> Il Fotografo<\/b><\/a> (Italy),<\/span> OPENEYE<\/b><\/a> (France),<\/span> FOTO cult<\/b><\/a> (Italy),<\/span> Street Photography Magazine<\/b><\/a> (USA), and<\/span> Art Doc Photography Magazine<\/b><\/a>, among many others, thus receiving international recognition, branding and promotion opportunities.<\/span>

Special Prize \u201cGaze on Existence\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This special section, <\/span>in honor of the jury president Matt Black<\/b> and his distinctive documentary photography. The section will be open to <\/span>Projects\/ Portfolios<\/b> intended to be part of a <\/span>prestigious exhibition curated by Matt Black himself<\/b>. The exhibition will include 3-5 portfolios selected by him, along with one of his prestigious projects, and will be presented at Trieste Photo Days 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many <\/span>prizes to be won<\/b>, not only for the Winners, but also for Honorable Mentions and Remarkable Rewards. Among the participants in the four categories that make up the Single Photo section, an <\/span>overall winner <\/b>will be chosen, who will be awarded the title of <\/span>Photographer of the Year 2025<\/b> and our<\/span> most prestigious prizes<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also this year, the <\/span>\u201cEarly Birds\u201d<\/b> promotion is active for Single Photos, Projects and Portfolios, Book Award, and the Gaze of Existence Special Prize, valid for those who register <\/span>from April 4th to April 30th, 2025.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
