{"id":32339,"date":"2025-03-28T16:22:53","date_gmt":"2025-03-28T15:22:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.urbanphotoawards.com\/?p=32339"},"modified":"2025-05-16T17:59:05","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T15:59:05","slug":"denis-curti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urbanphotoawards.com\/en\/denis-curti\/","title":{"rendered":"Denis Curti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Denis Curti, a prominent name in the world of photography, holds numerous prestigious roles: he is the artistic director of <strong>Le Stanze della Fotografia<\/strong> in Venice; the photography sector representative for <strong>Marsilio Editore<\/strong>; the director and founder of <strong>STILL<\/strong>, a photographic gallery based in Milan; the artistic director of the <strong>Capri Photography Festival<\/strong>; the artistic director of the <strong>Montefano Photography Festival: <em>Premio Ghergo<\/em><\/strong>; the director of the online magazine <strong>Black Camera<\/strong>; and the artistic director of <strong>Deloitte\u2019s PhotoGrant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From 2018 to 2022, Curti was the director of the monthly magazine <strong>IL FOTOGRAFO<\/strong>. Prior to this role, from 2005 to 2014, he was the director of <strong>Contrasto<\/strong> \u2013 Milan and vice president of the <strong>Fondazione Forma<\/strong> in Milan.<\/p>\n<p>Curti also leads artistic projects for various companies, including A<strong>ltagamma, Ambrosi, Polli, F2i, Ernst &amp; Young, A2A, American Express, DHL, Tiffany, <\/strong>and<strong> Alcantara<\/strong>. He has curated numerous exhibitions for world-renowned photographers and major international agencies, including: Elliott Erwitt \u2013 Gianni Berengo Gardin \u2013 Franco Fontana \u2013 Maurizio Galimberti \u2013 Fulvio Roiter \u2013 Andr\u00e9 Kert\u00e9sz \u2013 Robert Capa \u2013 Werner Bischof \u2013 Magnum America \u2013 A due Minuti dal mondo (with Magnum Photos) \u2013 Sebasti\u00e3o Salgado \u2013 Helmut Newton \u2013 Henri Cartier Bresson \u2013 Giovanni Gastel \u2013 David LaChapelle, Jacques Henri Lartigue, and the traveling exhibitions Capri Trend.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1990s and 2000s, Curti was the artistic director of the <strong>International Photography Biennale<\/strong> of Turin. For over 15 years, he was a journalist and photography critic for the pages of <strong>Vivimilano<\/strong> and <strong>Corriere della Sera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>An expert in the photography <strong>collectibles market<\/strong>, Curti curated the first photographic auctions for <strong>Sotheby\u2019s<\/strong> in Milan in 2002-2003. From 1995 to 2002, he was the director of the <strong>Italian Foundation for Photography.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Curti is also the author of several books on photography, including<em> \u201cCollezionare fotografia\u201d<\/em> from 2010 (with a new edition in 2013) for <strong>Contrasto Editions<\/strong>, and <em>\u201cCapire la fotografia contemporanea. Guida pratica all\u2019arte del futuro\u201d<\/em> for <strong>Marsilio Editori<\/strong> (2020). He also wrote <em>\u201cIl mosaico del Mondo. La vita messa a fuoco.
