The path to victory

In the first phase, photographers submit their best free-themed photo, each one eager to make their mark in the Arena. The submissions will close on June 16th, and the real game will begin.

Every week, like in a sports match, the photos go head-to-head, and here’s the twist: the photographers themselves are the jury. They’ll cast their votes to determine the winners of each round, mowing the most captivating images forward. As the competition progresses, only the best photos advance to the top of the bracket.

The Arena tournament bracket

Winner of the 2023 Arena: Romain Miot (FR)

The winning photo "Becoming an adult"

An international stage

From the Semifinals stage on, only our Top 3 URBAN Jurors will judge the matches. The voting will be done live at the 11th edition of Trieste Photo Days – the festival in the heart of Europe that celebrates urban photography.

- Friday 25 October 2024: Semifinals voted by Adam Pretty and Paul Gadd

The contest can be won in two ways: in addition to the traditional podium with the best photos voted by the global jury, perseverance in voting and photographic intuition in knowing how to choose the winning photo are also rewarded. The “Best Voter” Award is conquered by the participant with the most points accumulated within the Semifinals round.
