Born in 1954 in Palermo, Italy, daughter of art (her mother, Letizia Battaglia<\/strong>, was one of the most important Italian post-war photojournalists), Shobha during her long and successful career has won numerous awards, including the \u201cWorld Press Photo\u201d, and exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. For years, her life and activity have been divided between Italy and Asia. Since 2007 she has directed a center for photography in India, the “Mother India School”, which she founded, whose activities are mainly addressed to the female universe and give a voice, through stories, to courageous women who are fighting for real change. In 2007 she founded the cultural association, Mother India School<\/strong><\/a> which allows her to combine workshops and videos with commitment to the female and social world in Italy and Asia.<\/p>\n

Together with Susan Meiselas<\/strong> and Nino Migliori<\/strong>, Shobha <\/strong>will be one of the main guests of Trieste Photo Days 2022<\/strong><\/a> festival, where she will personally award the winner of the Projects & Portfolios section during the award ceremony of the contest, Saturday 29 October 2022<\/strong> at the Auditorium of the Revoltella Museum.<\/p>\n

Submissions to the thirteenth edition of URBAN Photo Awards are open until May 31, 2022 on my.urbanphotoawards.com<\/strong>. We remind you that in the Projects & Portfolios<\/strong> section you can propose sets of photos that share a common element: photographic projects, thematic portfolios, photo reports, series, storyboards (sequences of images that tell a story).<\/p>\n

The Free Photo promo is also active for everyone: photographers who are already participating in URBAN 2022 will be able to add 1 photo without additional registration fees, while others will be able to submit their first photo for free.<\/p>\n

The prize pool worth \u20ac 23,000 includes Amazon gift cards, exhibitions, publications and prizes offered by our partners<\/strong><\/a> Fujifilm Italia, Stroppa, Vitec Imaging Group and PhotographyCourse.<\/p>\n
