Since the age of about twelve, Michael has not been too far from a camera.<\/p>\n<p>Michael has been <strong>photographing the streets and beaches of New York City<\/strong> for more than fifteen years. He is known for his distinct style of photography, which combines up close, gritty, images of <strong>\u201chuman fragments\u201d<\/strong> along with the use of <strong>cheap and disposable cameras<\/strong>. In 2015, they released his <strong>second book<\/strong>, \u201cMichael Sweet\u2019s Coney Island\u201d, which features a collection of highly-saturated, low-fi color photographs made with a <strong>Digital Harinezumi<\/strong> &#8211; a Japanese toy camera with a worldwide cult following.<\/p>\n<p>Educated at <strong>The Johns Hopkins University<\/strong>, Michael was a long-time <strong>arts contributor for \u201cThe Huffington Post\u201d<\/strong>, as well as a regular columnist for <strong>\u201cPhoto Life Magazine\u201d<\/strong>. He has appeared as a <strong>photography critic<\/strong> in the feature-length documentaries \u201cGarry Winogrand: All Things Are Photographable\u201d and \u201cFill The Frame\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Michael is a recipient of numerous civilian awards and honors including a <strong>Canadian Prime Minister\u2019s Award<\/strong> and a <strong>Queen Elizabeth II Medal<\/strong> for significant contributions to education and the arts in Canada.
