URBAN Photo Awards<\/strong> international competition is ready to restart for the twelfth edition with a prize pool worth over \u20ac 23,000<\/strong><\/a> and several important new features, among which stands out the presence of a living legend of street photography to chair the jury: Bruce Gilden<\/strong><\/a>! Submissions open from March 1 to May 31, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Promoted by Italian cultural association dotART<\/strong> in partnership with Trieste Photo Days<\/strong>, Matrix4Design<\/strong><\/a> and Trieste Science+Fiction Festival<\/strong><\/a>, this year URBAN Photo Awards offers four categories<\/strong> in which photographers can try their hand.<\/p>\n

The Bruce Gilden Special Prize<\/strong> will be reserved for street photography projects<\/strong> destined to be part of a prestigious photographic volume edited by Bruce Gilden himself<\/strong>, from which a group exhibition<\/strong> will also be taken.<\/p>\n

As part of the Single Photos<\/strong> section, the prizes promoted in synergy with the URBAN partners also return: New Buildings<\/strong>, born from the partnership with Matrix4Design<\/strong> and dedicated to contemporary architectural photography, and the \u201cTrieste Science+Fiction Festival\u201d Prize<\/strong> for photographs inspired by science fiction in everyday life, the result of collaboration with the main Italian review dedicated to science fiction.<\/p>\n

URBAN this year is giving away \u20ac 1,500<\/strong> for the winner of the Single Photos<\/strong> category (personally chosen by Bruce Gilden), \u20ac 1,000<\/strong> for the first Portfolio, \u20ac 500<\/strong> for the Best Author, \u20ac 500<\/strong> for the winner of New Buildings<\/strong>, a winners\u2019 exhibit with award ceremony<\/strong> and gala dinner<\/strong> as part of the Trieste Photo Days 2021 festival<\/strong> (north-eastern Italy), as well as the publication of the photos in photographic magazines and in the seventh volume of URBAN unveils the City and its secrets<\/em><\/strong>. And, of course, several prize-exhibitions: at the Sartorio Museum <\/strong>in Trieste (thanks to the partnership with the Municipality of Trieste), at the Pore\u010d Museum<\/strong> (Croatia) and at the Stelio Crise Library<\/strong> in Trieste.<\/p>\n

URBAN Photo Awards each year sees thousands of photos <\/strong>competing and hundreds of participants<\/strong> from all over the world. It is an ever-growing international contest, one of the few to “cross the boundaries” of the web, offering photographers real visibility through dozens of photographic exhibitions in the prestigious frames of the Trieste Photo Days<\/strong>, the Trieste Photo Fringe<\/strong> and the Photo Days Tour<\/strong> (in Italy and abroad). In 2020 alone, URBAN set up over 30 exhibitions for nearly 1,400 photos on display.<\/p>\n

To enter URBAN 2021 all you have to do is register in the User Area<\/strong><\/a> and follow the procedure on the form. Those who have already registered in previous years can log in with the same credentials. Here you can find the rules<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The goal is to give the winning photographer the possibility to produce and promote their own authorial project internationally. It will be published as a paper book by dotART \/ URBAN and officially presented during the festival Trieste Photo Days 2021.
