Italian art association dotART<\/strong><\/a> promotes the 9th edition of URBAN 2018 Photo Awards contest.<\/p>\n The competition is open to all and features two distinct sections, one for Themed photos<\/strong>, one for Projects & Portfolios<\/strong>. It is possible to participate in both sections. Section for single themed photos. The main theme is Urban Photography<\/strong><\/em>. Photos must be included in one of seven thematic areas:<\/p>\n Street Photography<\/strong><\/em> Architecture & Urban Geometries<\/strong><\/em> Transport Urban Art<\/strong><\/em> People Urban Animals<\/strong><\/em> Creative Photography<\/strong><\/em> Each participant may submit up to 9 works and to each of them one of the 7 thematic areas must be assigned (in the upload form). The author is free to decide with how many pictures to participate in each thematic area.<\/p>\n Section in which you can propose a set of photos with Urban Photography<\/strong><\/em> subject: thematic portfolios, photojournalism and storyboards (sequences of images that tell a story). The photographer is free to choose the topic, style, setting and subjects they prefer. Along with the photos, will have to write a brief description of its project (in English – you can use Google Translate<\/a>). For both sections please follow these rules:<\/p>\n The competition runs from February 14th, 2018<\/strong>, until midnight of For the SECTION #1 \u00bb THEMED PHOTOS<\/strong>, in order for the first photo to be accepted, the fixed \u20ac 10<\/strong> entry fee must be paid; further photos may be entered at a cost of \u20ac 5<\/strong> per photo.<\/p>\n For the SECTION #2 \u00bb STORIES & PORTFOLIOS<\/strong>, entry fee is fixed with \u20ac 30<\/strong> for portfolio, regardless of the number of photos that make up the portfolio (min 3 photos, no more than 12<\/strong>). Each participant can submit a maximum of 5 portfolios<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Entries may be made by completing the Themed Photos form<\/a><\/strong> or the Projects & Portfolios form<\/a><\/strong>, where you will also be able to upload the photos, and pay the submission fee<\/strong> (see Art. 7).<\/p>\n To avoid upload issues please respect the following guidelines:<\/p>\n UNDER-25 STUDENTS PROMO.<\/strong> All students within 25 years of age (therefore born from 1993) who will apply in “Themed Photos” section will be entitled to upload 2 more photos for free<\/strong>, regardless of the number of photos for which they pay the registration fee. Just select the “Student” box in the registration form and upload the photos (*). In the event that the photo of a student is among the winners, dotART could verify the actual age of the author and his regular enrollment in a course of study.<\/p>\n (*) For example, if you pay \u20ac 10 you can upload up to 3 photos instead of 1 (2 free photos). If you upload 8 or 9 photos, please upload the remaining photos in a second phase, using the same personal data.<\/em><\/p>\n Prizes are divided as follows:<\/p>\n * The prize value is 250 \u20ac<\/strong> and consists in a 3-night stay for 2 people only during Trieste Photo Days<\/strong><\/a> festival (last weekend of October 2018). On that weekend there will be URBAN Photo Awards Final Ceremony. \n02. THEMES AND SECTIONS<\/span><\/h1>\n
\nThe contest\u2019s main theme is Urban Photography<\/strong><\/em>, that explores all photography forms set in the urban fabric. The star of the show: the City<\/strong>. Daily life in the city and in small villages, artistic views, architectural geometries, the fragments of colour that break the city greyness.<\/p>\n\u00bb SECTION #1 \u00bb THEMED PHOTOS<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n
\nThe many aspects of the urban fabric and the lives that inhabit it: people, places and moments of aggregation, contrasts and contradictions, events, concerts, sports and culture.<\/p>\n
\nUrban spaces, buildings, streets, shapes and geometries, industrial archaeology and abandoned places.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/em>Moving in the City.<\/p>\n
\nThe relationship between people and art in the City: monuments, churches, exhibitions, etc.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/em>The human body, photographed posing or caught fleetingly on the road.<\/span> Portraits, fashion, glam and kitch, conventional and unusual beauty.<\/span> Photo editing and post-production are allowed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
\nThe animals in the City: far from their natural habitat but incredibly at home in our houses or along the city streets.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
\nArtistic, experimental, conceptual, visionary photos outside previous thematic areas (the main theme is always Urban Life). Photo editing and post-production are allowed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\u00bb SECTION #2 \u00bb PROJECTS & PORTFOLIOS<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n
\nPortfolios must be made of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 12 photos<\/strong>. Participants can run in both sections. Photo editing and post-production are allowed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n
