The <strong>general theme<\/strong> of the contest is <em>Urban Life: Urban Photography<\/em>. The theme delves into modernity through all kinds of photography set in the fabric of the city. At the heart of the contest is the <strong>City<\/strong>, the urban environment and the humanity living there: the everyday life of big cities and small towns, the contrasts and the contradictions between the city and the countryside, the aesthetic views, the architectural geometries, fragments of colour breaking up the greyness of the city. Authors can here compete with <strong>drafts of their own photographic books, in pdf format<\/strong>. The goal is to give the winning photographer the possibility to produce and promote their own authorial project internationally. It will be <strong>published as a paper book by dotART \/ URBAN<\/strong> and officially presented during the festival <strong>Trieste Photo Days 2022<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe new section <strong>URBAN Book Award <\/strong>is designed for photographers that feel the limit of 12 photos set for the <strong>Projects &amp; Portfolio <\/strong>section as a restraint, and would like to submit extended projects (or larger versions of the same projects already competing in the <strong>Projects &amp; Portfolio <\/strong>section).<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e5d87f;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#fff299;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-expand su-expand-collapsed su-expand-link-style-dotted\" data-height=\"0\"><div class=\"su-expand-content su-u-trim\" style=\"color:#333333;max-height:0px;overflow:hidden\">\n<div class=\"su-expand-content su-u-trim\">\n<p><em>Guidelines for URBAN Book Award:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contestants will have to upload a \u201cdummy\u201d, a draft of the book in pdf format, with a clear structure, even if not well-finished or ready to be printed yet.<\/li>\n<li>If a pdf format cannot be provided, single photos can be submitted, as far as they are renamed in sequence and gathered in a single zip folder.<\/li>\n<li>Maximum of 128 pages.<\/li>\n<li>Contestants can submit up to 3 books each.<\/li>\n<li>Maximum size of the pdf or zip folder: 100 MB.<\/li>\n<li>The suggested paper sizes are: A4 (21 x 29.7 cm, vertical or horizontal) or square (22 x 22 cm). If the winning book is of a different size, dotART reserves the right to adapt it to the ones mentioned before.<\/li>\n<li>Authors are free to create the layout of the book as they please, to employ text and to choose the photographic style they prefer.<\/li>\n<li>The winner will receive a publishing offer, with a regular publishing contract.<\/li>\n<li>The staff of the contest will ask the selected author to provide high-resolution versions of the photos composing the book.<\/li>\n<li>The book will be realized and published by the end of September 2022, in limited deluxe edition. A group exhibition-prize will be dedicated to a selection of creative, experimental, abstract and conceptual photographs, competing in the <em>Creative<\/em> category of the <strong>Single Photos<\/strong> section and in the <strong>Projects &amp; Portfolios<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will be held from <strong>1 October to 15 November<\/strong> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitpalmanova.it\/polveriera-napoleonica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong><em>Polveriera Napoleonica<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, and will be part of the calendar of two important exhibitions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Palmanova Creativa<\/strong>, in which Palmanova celebrates 5 years as a UNESCO City with an international tribute to creativity in Photography<\/li>\n<li><strong>Photo Days Tour 2022<\/strong>, the setting for events taking place outside the Trieste during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.triestephotodays.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>Trieste Photo Days<\/strong><\/a> festival<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spacer\" style=\"height:80px\"><\/div><div class=\"su-heading su-heading-style-default su-heading-align-left\" id=\"\" style=\"font-size:15px;margin-bottom:40px\"><div class=\"su-heading-inner\"><span class=\"su-label su-label-type-black\"><strong>03<\/strong><\/span>\n<h6>SUBMISSIONS<\/h6>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>The contest starts on <strong>March 1, 2022<\/strong>, and will end at midnight on <del>May 31<\/del><strong> June 12, 2022 <\/strong><span class=\"su-label su-label-type-black\"><strong>NEW DEADLINE!<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>To enter the contest, you will just have to fill in the online form in the <a href=\"https:\/\/my.urbanphotoawards.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>User Area<\/strong><\/a>, to upload files and <strong>pay the submission fee<\/strong>.
