Udit Kulshrestha Biography:

Udit Kulshrestha (b. Rajkot, 1977) comes from an Armed Forces family with strong artistic roots. Trained in Business Management, he worked in marketing, innovation and strategy before discovering photography in 2006. A self-taught photographer and visual artist, he pushes the medium’s boundaries creating contemporary art objects and photography installations. He is currently documenting unseen geographies of Northeast India & Odisha, focusing on indigenous tribes on themes of land, people and culture in conflict zones.

An assignment photographer specialising in leadership portraiture and photojournalism, his work has appeared in Time, BBC, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Vanity Fair, Forbes and others. Recipient of major awards and grants, his prints and objects are held in collections in India and internationally. “Photography helps me find myself,” he says. “It is not how you see the world, but your relationship with it, that makes the photograph.” Author of the photo book Darwaze, he is based in Agra and New Delhi and co-founded Chitr Sanstha, a non-profit foundation for photography.
