The first step towards the podium: here are the Selected Photographers!
Today marks the commencement of a journey that will ultimately unveil the champions of the URBAN Photo Awards 2023 contest!
As usual, this path will be filled with excitement and anticipation, reaching its pinnacle in late October at the Trieste Photo Days festival. We invite you to join us at the festival in our fascinating seaside city of Trieste, in northeastern Italy. The final winners will be revealed during the Award Ceremony and personally awarded by our top jurors Alec Soth, Jérôme Sessini, and Kadir van Lohuizen.
Here are all five “stages” of announcements for our main photography sections (Single Photos, Projects & Portfolios, and URBAN Book Award), leading towards the Trieste Photo Days festival:

2) Semifinalists (mid-July)
3) Finalists (end of July)
4) Winners Shortlist (mid-September)
5) Final podium at the Trieste Photo Days Award Ceremony (Saturday October 28, 2023)
So let’s begin with the first of the five “stages” of the journey towards the winning podium: the official publication of a wide range of Selected Photographers, an outcome of the diligent efforts by our amazing Jury. They meticulously evaluated 12,000 competition photos, nearly 400 Projects and Portfolios, and over 120 Photo Books.We would like to congratulate all the Selected Photographers and wish them the best of luck for the next “stages”! The lists of 2023 Selected Photographers are divided by section / thematic area and strictly in alphabetical order. The authors must simply type their name into each section they have partecipated in to find their selected picture or project.
We will also shortly announce the shortlist for the Icons of Architecture special prize, promoted in collaboration with Matrix4Design magazine. Our new contest format dedicated to the young under 35 community URBAN Photo Arena, will also start soon. Stay tuned!
As usual this year, we are organizing a cycle of exhibitions and previews with the best selection of URBAN 2023 photos. They will be held starting from August as part of the two main satellite exhibition events of Trieste Photo Days: Trieste Photo Fringe the Photo Days Tour. We will announce the calendar shortly.
We take this opportunity to sincerely thank again the 3,000 photographers from all over the world who participated in and supported the 14th edition of the URBAN Photo Awards.
