We want to remember the winners
of last year’s URBAN photography awards.
The 2024 winners were announced live during the URBAN Photo Awards ceremony on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Auditorium of the Revoltella Museum, as part of the eleventh edition of Trieste Photo Days 2024 – International Photography Festival.
The photographer Sanchayan Chowdhury (Bangladesh) with the shot “Eid Journey” won as Overall Winner of URBAN Photo Awards 2024, chosen by the jury president Harry Gruyaert from all the first-place winners of the Streets, People, Spaces, and Creative categories in the Single Photos section.
Sanchayan Chowdhury won in the Streets category with the photo “Eid Journey”, Antonio Mercadante in the People category with “3di3”; Yevhen Kostiuk won first prize in the Spaces category with “P-opular & I-gnored” while Maryam Sadat Ahmadi won in the Creative category with the photo “Endless Stairs”.
“La Vida Lenta” by Polish photographer Krzysztof Bednarski won the Projects & Portfolios section, while “Sea, Steel and Sorrow” by Italian photographer Maria Pansini received the URBAN Book Award. The URBAN Photo Arena tournament saw Subhran Karmakar triumph with his shot “Leap of Faith”. The URBAN Press Award went to Italian author Max Cavallari for his project “Drowned Choice”. He was also crowned TPD Best Author, an award given to the photographer who garnered the most awards throughout the entire Trieste Photo Days festival.
Special Prizes
The author selected for the prestigious Civic Museums Award was also awarded: Mauro Zorer won the exhibition-prize at the Civic Museum Sartorio “The Children’s March”. For the Artistic Sensitivity award, photographer Marie-Laure Vareilles was selected with “Avatar’s Mountain Painter…”. Photographer Ekaterina Frolova was the winner of the first edition of the special Patricia D. Richards Legacy Award dedicated to portfolios by authors under 35, with the project “Young Cuba”.
