New submissions record for URBAN 2020 Photo Awards, closed on June, 17

Submissions are officially closed for URBAN 2020 Photo Awards contest, promoted by Italian cultural association dotART.

We’d like to thank the many participants from the bottom of our hearts and wish everyone a sincere “good luck”!

We are extremely satisfied with the success of this incredible eleventh edition, both in terms of the quality of the works and the numbers. The uncertainty due to the health emergency did not discourage photographers, and even registrations to URBAN saw a new record: more than 10,000 submitted photos, 390 projects and 160 books, for over 2,700 participants from all over the world.

Good success (109 photos) also for the New Buildings prize in the SPACES category, promoted together with Matrix4design and dedicated to the icons of architecture that have changed the face of cities in the last ten years.

The contest’s jury is already at work: Selected Photographers will be announced very soon and the Semi-finalists will be published by mid-July. At the end of July it will be the turn of the Finalists. Winners Photographer will be finally announced in mid-September. Each ranking will be in alphabetical order: we will reveal the final podium on Saturday 24 October 2020 in Trieste Photo Days festival.

This year as well, despite the health emergency, we will organize the usual “tour” of travelling exhibitions with the best photos from URBAN 2020 ranking. We do not exclude some exhibitions in Europe, but in general most of the “stops” will necessarily be due to things limited to our area (Trieste, North-eastern Italy), as part of the Trieste Photo Days, Trieste Photo Fringe and Photo Days Tour). However, we will try to focus on quality venues and venues.

Since 2011, URBAN has set up exhibitions in Austria (Klagenfurt), Poland (Krakow, Lodz, Raciborz, Gliwice and Warsaw), Serbia (Belgrade), Hungary (Budapest, Pècs and Miskolc), Cyprus (Limassol, Paphos and Nicosia), Latvia (Riga), Slovenia (Koper), Slovakia (Bratislava), Germany (Berlin and Hamburg), Croatia (Porec and Rijeka), Ukraine (Sumy), Colombia (Bucaramanga) and Italy (Milan, Venice, Trieste and Rome).

Furthermore, a selection of single images and projects will make up the sixth edition of the book Urban unveils the City and its Secrets, which will be previewed at Trieste Photo Days in late October.
