Manolo Ty

Manolo Ty is a photographer based in Berlin, born in Hagen, Germany. His work spans documentary photography, artistic practice, and visual storytelling, with a focus on long-term projects exploring cultural diversity, social change, and the impacts of climate change. His work combines a clear documentary approach with a sensitive, personal visual language, aiming to make complex global issues tangible.

Ty has traveled to over 110 countries. His photographic work has been exhibited internationally in more than 100 exhibitions and widely covered in the media, including in exhibitions such as “Pakistan Now” at the Osthaus Museum in Germany and the National Art Gallery in Pakistan or “Das letzte Eis” at Klimahaus Bremerhaven (German Climate Museum). His projects have garnered national and international attention.

He is the author of several photo books, including Pakistan Now (DuMont) and Tropics and Traditions (teNeues), in which he explores cultural heritage, sustainable travel, and environmental issues. Ty works as a freelance photographer with over 20 years of experience, undertaking assignments worldwide for a wide range of institutions and NGOs, including collaborations with the UNDP on projects such as his documentary film Gender X. He is represented by the German photo agency laif.
